Why Honeymoon In Santorini?
Best Time To Visit Santorini
The low season in Santorini extends from September to June. But the low season months are not all alike. While May, June and September are officially designated as the low season by Grecians, they are actually the best time to visit Santorini.
These months balance all travel essentials perfectly- the weather is warm but not too hot, the islands are filled with travellers but they aren’t unbearably crowded, and all the touristic facilities are still up and running.
Most businesses, restaurants, cafes and bars shut down from November to March, which is a dampener on travel plans during those months. So, make honeymoon plans for May, June and September in order to enjoy the best of Santorini.

July and August are the official high season months in Greece, and for that reason honeymooners need to avoid them. Greece, and especially Santorini, are overflowing with tourists during this season. This makes honeymooning very uncomfortable.
There are barely enough accommodations to go around, and the beaches and sightseeing spots are choked with travellers. True, all businesses are up and running, but enjoying them is difficult. Couples on honeymoon deserve to spend their holidays in romantic bonding, taking long walks on empty beaches, and staring at a magnificent sunset alone. The high season is not going to allow anybody that satisfaction.
Best Time To Visit Santorini: May, June, September, Early-October

Only citizens of Schengen countries can travel without a passport, though even they are advised to carry their passport in case of need. Citizens of several countries like UK, USA, Canada, Australia, EU do not require visas to travel to Greece. Citizens of most south-Asian countries do. A single country specific visa for Greece costing 60 EUR can be procured from the nearest Greek Embassy but a better option is applying for the Schengen Visa.
This visa costs 60 EURO too but it can be used to visit all of the 26 European countries under the Schengen list. It is valid for a period of three months. If you intend to stay for more than a couple of days in Santorini, the best travel option out there for you is a car or bike rental. This will not only be economical but will also ensure that you travel in privacy and at your own convenience.
There are many car and bike rental agencies in Santorini but you would be well-advised to book in advance, especially if your plans revolve around the high season. All agencies get booked out pretty quickly at that time of the year.

Cable cars and donkeys are interesting modes of transport, mostly used by locals. If you want to interact with the locals and get in touch with the true spirit of Santorini, you can give these options a try. A cable car connects the old port of Fira to the town, and the donkeys are mostly used on this route too.

Cape Columbo is one of the best places to visit in Santorini for honeymooners. The spot is attractively isolated most of the time so you can lounge about in the quiet sands without fear of crowds. Towering red cliffs surround the beach and give it shade from the sun.
This gives the beach a perfect ambience and makes it ideal even for afternoon visits. However, it is not the best place for taking a dip in the waters. An active crater standing close by keeps the waters constantly warm. The isolation of the beach is such that there are no food or beverage providers close at hand. So, make sure that you carry food and water along.
