Solang Valley
Located just 13 kilometres from Manali, Solang Valley is a scenic escape offering unparalleled views of snow-covered mountains. The valley is also known as Solang nullah, where Solang refers to a nearby village, and ‘Nullah’ means a water stream. Sitting at an altitude of around 8,400 feet, this high-altitude valley is situated between the Beas Kund and Solang Village, offering magnificent views of snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, and glacial streams. Solang Valley is popularly known as the ‘white wonderland’ during the winters. The powdery snow covers the valley, making it a famous playground for skiers, snowboarders, and snowmobilers. Just as the weather changes and transforms to summer, Solang becomes a perfect place for ATV rides, hiking, skiing, camping, and famous heart-pounding paragliding moments. Solang is not just about hills and views; it is an adventurous escape with the feeling of free-falling in the air while paragliding and riding an ATV through grassy-icy fields. This place used to be a grazing field for shepherds during ancient times. Now, turned into a renowned space for adventure activities, it is also known for its variety of flora and fauna. Not all activities are open throughout the year, as skiing and snowboarding are winter activities, while zorbing, mountain biking, and paragliding in Solang Valley are popular during the summer months. Moreover, this Valley houses great wildlife biodiversity like the snow leopard, brown bear, Himalayan yellow-throated marten, Kashmiri flying squirrel, flying fox, and ibex, living on every hill as far as you can see. The best time to spot wildlife is during the shoulder seasons (spring and autumn) when temperatures are milder and animals are more active. The Solang Valley is your next favourite vacation destination, with a variety of hotels serving delicious food and scenic views.
