After commencing your journey from Srinagar, you need to ride 85 kilometers to Sonamarg and 62 kilometers to move towards Drass through Zoji La Pass. You can either take a rest here or continue your trip for 58 kilometers to reach Kargil.

From here, there are two routes; you can either travel for around 235 kilometers to Leh through Mulbek, Namika La, Fotu La, Hangaroo Loops, and Nimmu, or you can drive for about 53 kilometers and reach Batalik and then proceed towards Leh via Dah, provided you have an Inner Line Permit.

There are two direct routes to reach Tso Moriri from Pangong Tso. The first route runs along the shoreline of Pangong Tso Lake through Loma-Nyoma and Mahe Bridge. You will find this route to be desolate. Moreover, some of the sections of road on this route are a bit tricky with some quicksand. There are chances that the small ground clearance vehicles can get stuck on this route.

The other direct route diverges from Chushul. In this route, the condition further degrades and loses soil with sharp stones to some point, and then you will get a clear road to travel. Therefore, it is advisable to opt for the first direct route to reach Tso Moriri from Pangong Tso.
