11 Day Tour From Lhasa To Mount Everest Basecamp

Itinerary

• Day 1 -

  Arrive in Lhasa

  Arrive in Lhasa, Tibet via plane or train.

  Upon arrival in Lhasa (3700m) get welcomed by your Tibetan Guide and Tibetan Driver who will bring you to your hotel.

  Overnight in Lhasa at 4 star hotel

• Day 2 -

  Lhasa Tour With Local Guide

  In Lhasa (3700m) explore the Jokhang Temple, the central monastery in Tibet, and the surrounding Bhakor Street, the bustling Lhasa market.

  In the afternoon go to Sera Monastery to watch the monks debate in centuries-old manner.

  In Lhasa (3700m) visit the Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama.

  Overnight in Lhasa at 4 hotel.

• Day 3 -

  Lhasa-Yamdrok Lake-Gyangtse

  On this day drive approximately 290km, first stopping along the banks of Yamdrok-Tso, the sparkling turquoise lake, for photos.

  After, on the way to Gyantse cross Kampa-la (5050 m) and Karo-la Pass (5045 m) to view the Mount Nojin Kangtsen Glacier falling down near the road.

  Upon arriving in Gyantse (3950m), visit the seven-story tall Kubum Stupa and Pelkor Chode Monastery.

  Overnight in Gyangtse at 3 star hotel.

• Day 4 -

  Gyangtse-Shigatse-Pelber (New Tingri)

  After breakfast drive 90km from Gyangtse to Shigatse (3900m).

  In Shigatse visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, to see the future Buddha’s golden shrine.

  Visit Shigatse Market and view the panorama of Shigatse Dzong (fort), with its architecture reminiscent of the Potala Palace.

  Leave Shigatse in the afternoon and drive to Shegar across Tsou-la Pass (4500m) and Gyatso-la Pass (5220m), with good weather you can see your first views of Mt. Everest.

  In the evening arrive at Pelber (New Tingri) (4300m).

  Overnight in Pelber at 2 star Hotel.

• Day 5 -

  Trek from Old Tingri to Lungthang

  Begin your trek in Old Tingri and start by going through the Tingri plain.

  Along a part of the Ra-chu Valley, see the beautiful valley scenery with extensive meadows and flocks of sheep and goats.

  Throughout the day visit a small gompa in Chholun.

  After 12km and 5 hours of trekking, spend the night in a comfortable campsite in Lunthang (4510m)

  Overnight in Lunthang. (Camping)

• Day 6 -

  Trek from Lungthang to Lamna-La Pass

  The challenging trekking really starts today as you go up into the mountains.

  Much uphill walking is done and climb towards the top of Lamna-la (5150m).

  After trekking 8 hours covering 21km camp beyond the top of this pass.

  Overnight at Lamna-la Pass. (Camping)

• Day 7 -

  Trek from Lamna-La Pass to Zommug

  In the morning descend steeply into lush vegetation.

  Camp will be made in the small village of Zommug (4790m).

  Truly amazing views can be seen as the sun sets in this barren town.

• Day 8 -

  Zommug-Rongbuk Monastery-Everest Base Camp

  On our last day of trekking wind your way to the end destination of Rongbuk Everest Base Camp.

  Along the way visit the Dza Rongbuk monastery and gompas.

  Overnight at Everest Base Camp area at Black Yak Hair tea tent dormitory, (No private bathroom and no shower).

• Day 9 -

  Rongbuk Monastery-Shigatse

  Wake up in the early morning to see the stunning sunrise over Mt. Everest, the highest peak on earth at 8,848m (29,029 ft).

  Take the Ecobus and take pictures in front of its imposing face.

  Drive 630km to Shigatse (3900m) and be wrapped again in the endless vistas of the Tibetan plateau

  Overnight in Shigatse at 3 star hotel.

• Day 10 -

  Shigatse-Lhasa

  After breakfast depart Shigatse and drive 280km all the way back to Lhasa along the Northern Route and the Yarlung Tsangpo River.

  Overnight in Lhasa at 4 star hotel

• Day 11 -

  Depart from Lhasa

  Transfer to Lhasa train station or Lhasa airport or the train station.

  End of trip.
