Kareri Lake in Summer

Due to the favourable weather conditions, the summer season is claimed as the best time of the year to indulge in Kareri Lake Trek. The season in this region begins from the month of May and lasts till the mid of July. By the month of May, all the snow on the trail disappears and the landscape features spellbinding lush greenery.

You may expect to feel close to nature as you walk across velvety green meadows and pass through alpine forests featuring a mix of rhododendron, deodar, spruce, and oak trees. During summers, the day temperature here usually varies between 10 to 26 degree Celsius but starts to drop as the evening approaches and goes to as low as -2 degree Celsius at night.

The little or no probability of rainfalls during the summer season also contributes to making it an ideal time to trek.
02

Kareri Lake in Monsoon

Kareri Lake Trek is counted among those few popular Himalayan treks that can be done during the monsoon season, provided you are geared up for the rains that you may encounter during the venture. The peak rainy season in the region usually begins in the mid of July and stays till the mid of September.

While you may experience subzero temperatures at night, the days are less colder as the temperature hovers between 9 to 18 degree Celsius. Due to regular rainfalls, the valleys on the trail turn dramatically vibrant and the vegetation becomes all the more verdant.

On the downside, camping is not advisable during this season as the water streams turn fierce and the camping ground remains muddy. However, you may easily find accommodation options in Kareri Village.
03

Kareri Lake in Autumn

The autumn season is claimed to be the most favourable time of the year to undertake Kareri Lake Trek. Spanning over the months of September, and October, and mid November, this season adds a refreshing aura to the surroundings, making the trail appear all the more appealing.

During the season, the rainfalls become rare, the skies appear clearer, and the pleasant daytime climate relaxes the challenging nature of the adventure. Though it is bearably cold during September and October, the nights get extremely chilly during November.
04

Kareri Lake in Winter

The winter season is the least preferred time of the year to indulge in Kareri Lake Trek but an excellent one too, nonetheless. The daytime temperature seldom goes beyond 10 degree Celsius and nights may get as cold as -15 degree Celsius. Due to the bone-chilling cold, Kareri Lake remains frozen throughout winters.

The thick layers of snow on the trail make it virtually impossible to cross the last few kilometres of the trail. Hence, for those who lack prior experience of winter treks, it is advisable to avoid this trek during the winter season. If you are fond of capturing winter scenes in the Himalayas, this season might be the best time of the year to put your photography skills to use with fewer visitors to photobomb your perfectly timed frames.
