Brighten up your day by getting a glimpse of life as it used to be lived through much of Bangkok. Venice of the East.On the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, the area has remained largely undeveloped.Hop onto a James Bond longtail boat and enjoy a fun ride throughout the marrow canals of Thonburi, a former capital of Thailand. (The longtails were made famous by the chase sequences in the James Bond flick “The Man with the Golden Gun”, and they can shift when the boatman opens up the throttle) These canals are a magical place to visit and are also remarkable contrast to the hectic pace of the rest of the city. Bangkok lies a huge network of canals where hundreds of people go about their daily lives.
Along the way, there are numerous temples, shrines, restaurants and schools. Observe the locals going about their day. There are also mobile food vendors, selling delicious BBQ chicken with sticky rice, noodles, fruits etc. Kids messing around on the water’s edge and taking a swim, jumping from bridges, giving a cheerful wave as you pass by. Get your camera ready right from the start as it is worth taking photo throughout the journey.
Later on continue the trip by visiting Wat Trimitrin China Town. Wat Trimitr, located near Chinatown, is home to the famous Golden Buddha aged 700 to 800 years old, which weights 5.5 Ton of pure gold and 3 meters high. (for join tour). If you do private tour, instead of Wat Trimitr, visit Wat Arun, Temple of Dawn on the Choaphraya River Bank.
Pass Chinatown, one of the busiest areas of Bangkok. Just before reaching Wat Pho, have a look at Flower Market which opens 24 hours, selling flowers hub of Thailand. Then explore Wat Powhichis famous for its golden Reclining Buddha measures 46 meters long and 16 meters high and has feet inlaid with mother-of pearl. The temple is the first open university in Thailand providing Thai Massage lessons until today. In 2008, the historic marble inscriptions in Wat Pho have been registered with UNESCO’s Memory of the World (MOW) for Asia and the Pacific region.
Last Wat (temple) to visit is Wat Benchamabophitalso known to foreigners as The Marble Temple as its exterior is clad in white Carrara marble. The main Ubosoth, (ordination hall) is truly a beautiful architectural masterpiece. The interior crossbeams are decorated with lacquer and gold. The walls of the spacious inner courtyard are lined with a large collection of bronze Buddha images. Inside the main hall it houses the replica of Phra Phuttachinarat, Thailand's most beautiful Buddha.
Get dropped off to your hotel at around 12.
