Trip Starting From: Uttarkashi

Trip Location: Garhwal

About the Activity:

  • The mountaineers' paradise is Mount Thelu in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand giving umpteen number of opportunities to climb and explore.
  • Here is a magnificent 16 day trekking expedition in which more than 9 days, you would be preparing and climbing the summit up.
  • Arrive at Uttarkashi on the first day by evening and set your gears up in order to start off your trekking trip.
  • During the breathtaking trip, you would come across Mt Saifee as well which is situated inside the beautiful Gangotri national park and the park offers the excellent opportunities to climb the glaciers at ease.
  • Follow the noise of the gurgling river Ganga via the holy town of Gangotri to its source at Gaumukh, with the base being set up at the high altitude meadow of Raktvan.
  • The package includes food, accommodation in tents and transportation during the trip from Uttarkashi to the base camp and return.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    Arrival at Uttarkashi

    Once you arrive at Uttarkashi which is the main center for mountaineering, have dinner and listen to the briefing about the activity.

    Spend rest of the evening to explore the town.

    The equipment for the activity will be issued on arrival.

    Stay overnight in the hotel.

  • Day 2 -

    Uttarkashi to Gangotri (3048 m/ 10,000 ft) by road (98 kms)

    In the morning, post breakfast, move toward Gangotri via Harsil which is your expedition route.

    Around 4 hours you will take to reach the destination and stay overnight in the hotel.

  • Day 3 -

    Gangotri – Bhojbasa (14 kms trek, 5 – 6 hrs trek)

    Early in the morning, start trekking to the first campsite at Bhojbasa and follow the river Bhagirathi flowing on your right always.

    You will see the campsite at Chirbasa en route.

    From today onward you will be staying in tents.

  • Day 4 -

    Bhojbasa- Raktvan (Base camp) (7 km -5 hrs trek)

    Reach the destination at Raktavan that serves as the base camp for Mt Thelu and Mt Saifee trek, go through Gaumukh, the snout of the glaciers.

    Climb up the glaciers and cross the lateral moraine to reach the base camp.

  • Day 5 -

    Day 05-14 are reserved for climbing

    From day 5 to day 14, you will be planning to climb up to the summit through multiple load ferries.

    After reach Thelu, proceed to Mt Saifee.

  • Day 15 -

    Base camp – Gangotri

    Have breakfast, make a fast descent

    Post breakfast make a speedy descent down to Gangotri where you will reach by afternoon.

    Gather to share your experiences in the evening and retire for the night.

  • Day 16 -

    Depart from Gangotri after concluding your trip.
