Road Trip To Kinnaur And Spiti Valley

Itinerary

• Day 1 -

  Chandigarh to Narkanda

  Set off after an early breakfast for a 2 hours and 30 minute drive to charming Narkanda.

  Here, you come across the higher reaches, vibrant white winter in apple orchards.

  This is the destination for taking part in angling or winter sports.

  Narkanda also gives the best time to do skiing at its best.

• Day 2 -

  Narkanda to Sangla (160 kms/7-8 hrs)

  Today, after breakfast, get a drive to Sangla, another stunningly beautiful site with loose rocky terrains.

  The drive to Sangla would be filled with mutliple adventure levels and the hanging villages and green valleys make the location more charming.

  Enjoy the warm welcome from the Kinnauri-speaking locals.

  Feel at home as you walk through the valley before you head back to the hotel for a hot dinner.

  Spend the night at Sangla.

• Day 3 -

  Sangla to Kalpa via Chitkul (100 kms/4hrs)

  Head out to add another day of challenges to your diary with a visit to the last Indian village before the Tibet border that is Chitkul.

  The kaleidoscopic natural beauty and the stunning architectural scenes turn the village lively and marvellous.

  The Baspa valley adds on surprises to the village.

  Rivet in the beautiful surrounding boats of the towering Himalayan peaks.

• Day 5 -

  Tabo to Pin Valley via Dhankar (70 kms/4 hrs)

  Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and begin your drive to the headquarters of Spiti, Kaza.

  Pause the drive when you reach Dhankar, precariously perched on a rugged cliff, seemingly fragile from a distance.

  Adhere to the spectacular views of the Spiti-Pin river confluence and the valley below.

  Visit the little museum in the Gompa here and converse with the lamas to know more history and lore of the Dhankar Monastery.

  Take a short hike to Dhankar Lake and witness the most amazing and thrilling lanscape of the beautiful lake.

  Move on to Spiti’s largest green area, Pin Valley, surrounded by barren landscape and less tamed mountains.

  Continue your drive through narrow rocky tarmac as you enter nature’s impressive contrasts of lush green pastures set against snow-capped mountains and clear blue skies.

  Stay overnight in Pin Parvathy.

• Day 6 -

  Pin Valley to Kye and Kibber to Kaza (80 kms/4 hrs)

  From Kaza, start your journey to Kibber Village after breakfast, it is perched on a tough ridge overlooking Spiti river with utmost passions.

  Kye monastery is the biggest and principal monastery found in Spiti.

  Continue your joureny until you reach village brimming with white houses protected by bright red rooftops.

  At over 4200 metres above meters above sea level, Kibber is one of Spiti’s highest inhabited villages.

  Post this, proceed to enjoy a challenging, bone-freezing ropeway ride at Chicham Village.

  Stay overnight in Kaza.

• Day 7 -

  Kaza – Komic – Kaza

  Embark on a journey through the stark screes against the backdrop created by lovely green pasture land and mighty Himalayas.

  During the journey, take a halt at Langza which offers the finest views of Spiti valley, unfiltered.

  Continue the journey from Langza and stop for a moment at Hikkim and follow the route to reach Komic.

  Komic is the Himalaya’s highest inhabited village.

  It is at a height of 4587 metres above and offers stunning vistas from its ancient monastery as well.

  Explore and meet the locals here and learn more about their folklore and culture as well.

  Have a tasty lunch from here and return to Kaza.

• Day 8 -

  Kaza to Chandrataal via Losar

  At 4551 metres, Kunzum Pass is the main access to Spiti Valley from Lahaul.

  Begin your day with a trip to Chandrataal Lake and en route stop at Losar.

  Also, have the astounding views of the celebrated Kunzum Pass.

  Continue your drive down from the towering Pass to the surreal Chandrataal Lake.

  The moon lake will be displaying the persuasive yet different shades of turquoise blue as the morning progresses.

  Amble along the local places near the lake.

  Enjoy the rare night stay at Chandrataal.

• Day 9 -

  Chandrataal to Manali

  Today, you are going back to Manali post lunch.

  Bob Dylan's cafe is situated at the heart of Manali, enter the world of music and have some tasty cookies and smoking hot chai.

• Day 10 -

  Manali to Chandigarh

  Set off to Chandigarh after breakfast where your tour is going to meet the conclusions.
