Surrounded by the lush green forest amongst the rolling Himalayan mountains that dot the landscape, this experiential farmhouse stay is a perfect getaway for offbeat travellers and wanderers. This space is an 18-acre forest farm stay, located in Parbing (Ranka), a scenic village near Gangtok, Sikkim. It is a working farm with accommodation for guests. Try out the different types of fruits by plucking it straight from the tree itself and learn the terraced farming method of cultivation of rice and other veggies.

It is a duplex suite with the ground floor serving as a living room(cum bedroom in case of 2 extra guests) and the top floor serving as the actual bedroom. One interesting feature of the bedroom is the skylight(transparent roof) right above the bed. Overall, the cottage is made in such a way so as to provide our guests with the utmost comfort and relaxation.

Experiences Offered:

  • Bird watching- This place is heaven for birdwatchers. Some of the birds are Magpie, Great Barbet, Red-vented Bulbul, Himalayan Buzzard, Redstart, Flycatcher, etc. One can spot them in their natural habitat and undisturbed right from the cottage. Early mornings and evenings are the best time to spot these beautiful birds.
  • Picnic on the sides of stream and waterfall- Here one can enjoy the picnic along the side of streams and food is being cooked in the woods and served next to the stream. This place is covered with hiking and other adventurous activities.
  • Organic farming- A perfect idea of a farm vacation can only be complete when you get your hands on organic farming. There are a wide variety of fruits that grow in our farm such as Walnut, Guava, Peach, Tamarillo, Mandarin orange, Apple, Sugarcane, Nepalese Hogplum, Avocado, Passion Fruit, etc. A small walk through the village to the cow rearers can help you gain a lot of knowledge about the milking process, etc.
  • BBQ and bonfire- An open garden area under the tree for BBQ with an open bonfire and music. Sit near the bonfire, sing, eat and enjoy. One can fulfil their stargazing dream with breathtaking views of the night sky with the bonfire, esp. in winters.
For the outdoor enthusiasts, the property provides nature walk to the nearby stream. The stream is fed by some beautiful waterfalls that will leave you amazed. Along with all this, you can go for a walk near the village and get the experience of their culture and heritage. One can get to experience the rich and diverse vegetation of Sikkim through these walks.

How to reach:
Darjeeling is 47 km from this stay. The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport, 78 km from the accommodation.

Yes, I am no different because I have craved for such an experience all my life and I am extremely glad that Thrillophilia came on board to grant all that I desired. My 2 days one night experiential stay at a Farmhouse in Gangtok not just let me have a perfect getaway but so much more. I learnt about terrace farming, plucked ripe fruits from the trees, enjoyed picnics along the streams, and tried my hands on organic farming. I still miss my bedroom in the homestay that had a skylight right above the bed to let me stargaze endlessly. Thank you Thrillophilia for such a splendid experience!
