Biking Tour From Srinagar To Manali

Itinerary

• Day 1 -

  Arrive at Srinagar

  Arrive at Srinagar and check in to a traditional houseboat floating on the beautiful Dal Lake.

  After meeting the rest of the group and a pre­ ride briefing, you are free to enjoy the lake with a Shikara ride.

• Day 2 -

  Srinagar to Sonmarg, Motorcycle orientation

  Today start the ride with an easy ride on various terrain which you would encounter later on in tour.

  This is to make sure you are comfortable with the motorcycle you are riding.

  Reach Sonmarg by evening,

  Enjoy the alpine landscape and snow­capped peaks around before calling it a day at a hotel.

• Day 3 -

  Sonmarg to Kargil

  Today's the first real test of the ride.

  Ride through the Zoji La pass at 11,575 feet and pass the beautiful mountains of Sonmarg on one side and the high altitude Ladakh region on the other.

  The constant landslides at the pass mean that you ride through slush and broken roads before you set eyes on the brown landscape awaiting ahead.

  Ride through the historic road from Drass to Kargil while enjoying the majestic views, green villages and raging rivers alongside.

• Day 4 -

  Kargil to Leh

  Enjoy the striking rock sculpture of the Maitreya Buddha at Mulbek soon after you depart from Kargil.

  Then you cross over two very beautiful passes, Namika La and Fotu La, before reaching the unique moonscape of Lamayuru.

  After spending some time at Lamayuru monastery, continue the journey ahead to Leh, the destination for the night.

• Day 5 -

  Sightseeing in Leh

  Enjoy the most amazing views in Leh.

  After a half day's rest you explore various parts of Leh, such as the local market, a monastery and the Shanti Stupa.

• Day 6 -

  Leh to Hunder vis Khardung la Pass

  Today, you take the road to the highest motorable pass in the world ­ Khardung La­ at a dizzy height of 18,380 feet.

  After celebrating at Khardung La pass, you descend into the Nubra valley -­ a unique landscape of desert, rivers, snowcapped mountains and farms.

  Ride to the hunder village in Nubra valley that lies amidst big sand dunes and small streams.

  Stay at a guesthouse that serves food from their own vegetable garden.

• Day 7 -

  Hunder to Leh

  Today retrace your ride and cross the mighty Khardung La pass again to reach Leh.

  You are free to spend the second half of the day sightseeing or shopping if you so wish.

• Day 8 -

  Leh to Pangong Tso Lake

  Enjoy the breathtaking 30,000 sq km Changthang Plateau on your ride.

  Changthang’s great plains have some of the most majestic grasslands and meadows in the world.

  But to reach Changthang, you have a long and steep ride through the third highest motorable pass in the world, the Chang­ La pass at 17,586 feet.

  But the real treat is the 135 km long Pangong Tso lake.

  One can spend hours gazing at the changing colours of this lake.

  Spend the night on the banks of the lake.

• Day 9 -

  Pangong Tso lake to Rumtse

  This day, as you ride along the clear blue Pangong Tso lake where very few tourists visit.

  After a short ride around the Pangong lake, you retrace your ride back to Chang La pass and to the Manali-­Leh highway.

  Over night at Rumtse.

• Day 10 -

  Rumtse to Sarchu

  The best ride on the Manali-­Leh highway is the stretch to Sarchu.

  There are not just one, but three high­-altitude passes on this day, including the second­-highest motorable pass in the world, Taglang La, at 17,480 feet.

  Not to forget the amazing Gata loops - a series of 21 switchbacks that take you down into into the valley.

  Spend the night in Swiss tents at a campsite, as there are no permanent structures in Sarchu.

• Day 11 -

  Sarchu to Keylong

  In this day's ride get amazed by the passing landscapes, small lakes, rivers and one high-altitude pass.

  The landscape too will transform from barren desert land to sights of green plantations and small patches of forests.

  Keylong is a small town on the Manali-­Leh highway and here you spend the night at a hotel.

• Day 12 -

  Keylong to Manali

  The last day of the ride is the greenest so far, along the Chandra and Bagha rivers.

  Finally, cross the scenic Rohtang pass down to the sight of lush green Himalayan mountains and waterfalls.

  Nature here is at its best.

  After the descent from the pass, you ride to Manali, in the Himalayas and call it a day at a hotel.

• Day 13 -

  Depart from Manali

  Conclude your tour after departing from Manali.
