Itinerary

• Day 1 - Arrive in Dibrugarh

  On reaching the beautiful Tea City of India, Dibrugarh, you will be received and transferred to Sibsagar. The distance between Dibrugarh and Sibsagar is about 77 km and is covered in about two hours. Lose yourself in the rapture of the natural beauty of Dibrugarh, which is best known for its lush green tea estates. On reaching Sibsagar, you can rest at the hotel and step out to explore the town and its temples in the evening.

• Day 2 - Sibsagar to Mon

  Sightseeing in Mon

  Start from Sibsagar after breakfast to the interesting village of Mon. Enjoy the beauty of the journey as you pass through the picturesque surroundings of Sibsagar. On reaching Mon, you will be taken to see the rustic beauty of Mon villages. Overnight stay in Mon.

• Day 3 - Stay in Mon

  Attend Aelong Festival, Witness Cultural Extravaganza

  Be a part of the splendid Aelong festival. Revel in the thumping of drums and catchy tribal song. The Aelong festival is celebrated after the sowing season and prayers are offered to the deities Youngwan and Kahshih for good harvest, progeny and safety of the community. It is the most important festival of the Konyaks, a Naga tribe that is best known for its tattooed members.

• Day 4 - Stay in Mon

  Explore Mon, Visit Local Market, Attend Aelong Festival, Explore Chui Village

  Spend a lovely morning in Mon and explore the local market for souvenirs and memorabilia. Konyaks are skilled craftsmen and you will find beautiful wood carvings, headgears, necklaces, guns and machetes in select outlets. Stroll about the town and soak in the beauty of this amazing destination. Return to the revelry at the Aelong festival in the evening. Once the programme is over, you will be taken on a sightseeing trip to the Chui Village. Over here, you will be able to visit the Angh’s house, which is the residence of the chief of the Konyak tribe. A visit to the Angh’s house is one of the most exciting experiences that you can have on this trip.

• Day 5 - Sightseeing in Mon

  Explore Konyak Villages, Visit Angh’s House, Visit Sheangkhachingnyu Village

  On the fifth day of the trip, you will be able to visit some of the ethnic Konyak Villages in the region. The Lungwa Village is one such village and is situated at a distance of about 42 km from Mon. It is just about one and a half hours drive from Mon and can easily be reached by road. In this hamlet, you can visit the Angh’s house. Angh is the headman of the Konyak community and owns the largest house. His house is marked by hanging skulls outside the door. Interestingly, this house is divided by the boundary line of India and Myanmar. You will also be able to see the famous tattooed community members. After this you will be taken to visit the Sheangkhachingnyu Village.

• Day 6 - Mon to Dibrugarh

  Wind up your exciting journey with an equally exciting ride back to the beautiful city of Dibrugarh. Do not forget to grab a window seat to enjoy the passing beauty of the landscape and soak in its undisturbed tranquillity. On reaching Dibrugarh, you will be checked into a hotel for overnight stay.
