Sela Pass

Tawang Monastery

Famous as the largest monastery in India, Tawang Monastery is one of the most incredible places to visit in Tawang. Also famous as Galden Namgyal Lhatse, Tawang Monastery is one of the most holy sites for the faith of Mahayana Buddhism. Belonging to the Gelugpa sect of Buddhism, Tawang Monastery is home to over 300 monks and holds 17 gompas in the region. Offering a serene view of the Himalayan valley, Tawang Monastery is renowned for its 16th century architecture. Some of the famous things to look forward to at Tawang Monastery are sketches and paintings of Bodhisattvas, silver silk casket dedicated to Goddess Shri Devi and many other works of art. Shonga Tser Lake

Often famous as Madhuri Lake, Shonga-Tser Lake is known to be the place where the famous Bollywood song from the movie Koyala was shot. The vista comprises of the serene hills and mountains that surround the lake and the place charms the tourists with its tranquil ambience. Vaishno Bhattathiri Motorcycle Tour of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, Flat 15% off

Superb

It was a last-minute decision to explore the northeast and luckily we found Thrillophilia. Had a whale of a time, riding our motorbikes at 3500 meters and having connected to nature. Exploring the Tawang Monastery, examining the historic buildings, and gazing upon ancient scriptures, all on our 11-day tour is unbelievable. I would like to give credit where it’s due and thank Thrillophilia to have made stunning arrangements at camps. Absolutely love how I could feast upon delicious vegetarian dinners at such remote locations. If you are a confident rider and have a valid motorcycle operator license, I suggest you take up this tour. The snowy paths, a reflection of the snow-capped mountains on the bike’s mirror, and sipping on butter tea, at one of the stalls, will always remain dear to my heart.

I did not want the usual air travel or train travel so I signed up for a Motorcycle tour of the Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh with Thrillophilia. And, boy! Was I impressed? Hell Yes, My friend and I bagged their exclusive tour and went on to explore the historic buildings of Tawang, rode along the snow-coated mountainous paths, shimmering lakes and interacted with the Monpa tribes. A big shout out to Thrillophilia for fine arrangements like comfy tents to spend the night and delicious meals!
