1. Visit the Fontainhas: One of the best things to do in Panjim is to visit the Fontainhas, also known as Goa’s Latin Quarter. This historical heritage colony in Panjim used to be the former headquarters of the Portuguese, and has narrow streets, with colourful buildings and an old-world charm.
You can also see the ancient Ourem Creek flanking the colony on the east, and the Altinho Hills acting as its backdrop on the west. 2. Try Goan Cuisine: Panjim is a treasure house of restaurants, beach shacks and cafes where you can try authentic Goan cuisine, fresh seafood and local produce. 3. Shop at MG Road: Said to be the main shopping avenue in Panjim, MG Road is home to many shops, boutiques and stalls that sell everything you need and more. From fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers, to local Goan spices, seafood, Goan wines and beer, you can get it all here.
MG Road also has several shops where you can buy cashew nuts, which are quite famous here. For others, you can also find traditional Goan handicrafts, clothing and accessories in MG Road, along with a wide range of handmade products, like coconut shell statues, wooden artefacts, glazed and colourful tiles, khadi materials and more. Some of the shops here also sell handmade Portuguese and Goan ceramics, including kitchen utensils and animal figurines.

4. Drink Beer at Joseph Bar: Amongst the top-rated bars and pubs in all of Panjim, you must definitely head over to Joseph Bar for a drink (or two) when you are visiting the city. Exuding an old-world charm, this cosy little bar is a local favourite, and has a very relaxing and comfortable ambience, quite different from the typical touristy bars and nightclubs that Panjim is home to.
It is here, at Joseph Bar, where you can try fresh draught beer and draft, which is a milder version of Feni, a type of liquor/ spirit produced in Goa. Simply head over to Joseph Bar, grab a beer, and enjoy the views of the lifestyle, small lanes and vistas of Goa. Or, satiate your hunger with local Goan snacks and delicacies.

Panjim is home to the very first Blue Tokai café in all of Goa, and is located in the beautiful area of Fontainhas. A tranquil and peaceful place, you can enjoy soaking in views of the art-laden walls and colourful houses in the narrow lanes of Fontainhas as you sip on your coffee.
The air-conditioned café is great for catching up with your friends over food and drinks. The best part about the coffee here is that all of Blue Tokai’s coffee beans are sourced directly from the plantations, and are then roasted in the café itself, making it very fresh and delicious.
