The princely state of Mandi is located within the Union of India. With Bilaspur as its capital, the state is as expansive as approximately 232,598 kilometers which reduced to approximately 1,139 square kilometres after the division was made. The state of Mandi is home to two large towns and approximately 3,625 villages. There is much historic importance that this place signifies. Stories suggest that during the period of 1290 when the Rana of Banglaor succeeded the Siokot state, he was the first that can be credited for naming Mandi as the new capital of the Northern region. It was only later in the year 1954 that Mandi was incorporated into the state of Himachal Pradesh as the Mandi district.
