Wiang Kum Kam Overview

One of the most prominent tourist places in Chiang Mai from an archeological point of view, Wiang Kum Kam is a historic settlement along the Ping River which was later abandoned due to repeated instances of flooding. The fortified city from the 13th Century was the capital of the Lanna Kingdom, built under the reign of King Mangrai the Great.

During excavation, various fort walls and moats were discovered in addition to ancient temples which are still active. If you're planning a trip to Thailand, don't miss the chance to visit this site and explore its various nooks and crannies to get some valuable insights into the architecture and culture of the Lanna Kingdom back then.
