Sultan Hassan Mosque Overview
Constructed during the years 1356 to 1363, the Sultan Hassan Mosque is a magnificent personification of Mamluk architecture. The mosque was built in honor of Sultan Hassan el-Nasir and is also a mausoleum, housing the Sultan’s sarcophagus. With such exemplary Arabic artistry, the mosque is bound to entice you, thus making it one of the most interesting Tourist places in Cairo.

The exterior is a vestige of the old Egyptian temples, and through the massive doorway, you can visit the domed vestibule. Behind it, you can observe an antechamber, which leads to the open court. Now, you can go to the mausoleum via the iron door.
