Phuket Seashell Museum Overview

Keep your kids entertained on a rainy day by paying a visit to Phuket Seashell Museum which is storing one of the largest collections of valuable shells sourced from Thai and Phuket waters. Built around 1997, the museum houses 2000 different species of shells from the past three decades, which started as just a hobby of muesum's owner

Situated near the Evason resort, Rawai, the Phuket Seashell Museum is a perfect place to explore the wonderland of valuable seashells. First inaugurated in 1997 by Somchai Patamakanthin, a seashell collector, the museum has been emerging as a finest spot for providing knowledge and entertainment about the world of sea creatures. For those planning Thailand travel packages, a visit to the Phuket Seashell Museum offers a unique and enriching experience, allowing travelers to delve into the fascinating realm of marine life and discover the beauty of seashells.

The museum building features four exhibitions with all information provided in both English and Thai language. However, when it comes to represent one of the rarest forms of seashells, two heavy shells with various patterns named tiger cowries and stout-spine murex come as a frontrunner.

Besides, the museum also houses some rarities and ancient shells which includes the iconic one, world's largest golden pearl and a vast section of shell fossils dating back in the first era of earth. Among them a large shell weighing in at 250 kg attracts the attention of visitors.

On the ground floor, the museum stores a collection of beautiful gift items made of seashells which can easily grab your attention. Be it seashell items for indoor decoration or jewelries, keychains, and crafts, the museum has everything you can think of.
